Jim Jones Preps Release of Harlem’s American Gangster

The wait is over, as hip hop superstar Jim Jones kicks off the New Year with a brand new mixtape, "Harlem's American Gangster" on KOCH Records, which hits streets on February 19th, 2008. The mixtape is hosted by Dame Dash and features the entire Byrdgang crew.
Jim Jones is currently recording a new album which will be released later this summer via Columbia/KOCH, but fans won't have to wait that long to hear new Jim Jones music.
Jones' latest album, "Hustler's P.O.M.E. (Product of My Environment)," was released in 2006 and became a monster hit, selling over 500,000 copies and included the feel good anthem and Jim's signature song, "We Fly High," which has sold over 3.5 million digital and ringtone units combined...
"Harlem's American Gangtser" was previously available on a limited basis, but the mixtape has been completely remixed/re-mastered and also features new songs, including the track "Rockefeller Laws." When asked about this latest inspiration, Jones had this to say, "Some people do soundtracks to the movies about Harlem, we do soundtracks to the streets of Harlem, which made us who we are today. Hustlers are some of the flyest people the world has ever set their eyes on."
The first single "Love Me No More" is at urban radio now and a video for the single will be shot shortly. It will be once again co-directed by Jim Jones and RAGE, who also directed the smash videos for "We Fly High" and the "We Fly High" REMIX.

David Banner Talks About New Single/Album

Jackson, Mississippi rapper David Banner and R&B superstar Chris Brown collaborated on a new track featured on Banner’s upcoming album The Greatest Story Ever Told.
The pair, who starred together in the film This Christmas, recently recorded "Get Like Me" which will be the album’s lead single.
"I've been knowing Chris for a while and I'm amazed with his vision," David Banner told AllHipHop.com. "[Chris] Brown knows just what direction he wants to go in as an artist. I can't control this one its popping up every where..."
The rapper said that his goal recording The Greatest Story Ever Told was to craft a complete album that listeners will play from start to finish.
David Banner’s album was originally due in stores in December 2007, but was delayed until March 2008.
The Greatest Story Ever Told includes production from Lil Jon, Akon, Cool & Dre and Banner himself, while rappers like Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg and T.I. featured on the album. "The reason why it's taking so long to come out is because I'm waiting on the machine known as Universal to work as hard as I do," Banner told AllHIpHop.com "The only way that will happen is if I get off my ass and get this ship popping like I've been doing.
"People don't buy records no more they buy brands, concepts, and/or visions," said Banner, who recently landed a starring role in Ice Cube’s new movie The Comeback, which is being directed by rocker Fred Durst.
The Greatest Story Ever Told is due in stores in March.

Eminem Brings Weight To Trick Trick LP

With Eminem's presence sorely missed in the hip-hop scene, the least bit of news about him makes fans and media alike go crazy. The latest rumor surrounding the Detroit MC was that he had ballooned to more than 200 pounds. Word on the street is that Slim Fast even came out and publicly offered him an endless supply of its dietary drink — and a spokesman position!
One of Em's friends and frequent collaborators, Trick Trick, says all the joking about Slim Shady not being slim anymore is just ridiculous...
"Em just picked up some weight, that's it," Trick, a fellow Detroit native, downplayed Thursday afternoon. He's nowhere [near] 250 pounds or anything like that. He picked up a little weight. He ain't walkin' around obese or some sh-- though. He can still run two miles if you want him to and still out-box the majority of them. My man still gets down."
Trick says Em getting down isn't just a physical thing — Slim Shady is still lyrically sound and ready to knock off heads. In fact, he is just one of the guests on Trick's upcoming independent LP, The Villain.
"He's still the coldest that ever did it," Trick said. "The game needs his album. He's rapping on [my album track] 'Who Want It.' He's like, 'Who want it?' [In the song] he's hanging out and these f---ing idiots are always at it. If you want it, come get it. He ain't trying to do nothing but be Em. I'm being me. If you want it, I got ya. He's Em on there. He's going for it. Whoever wants some can come get it. Em produced and rapped on it."
Marshall Mathers isn't the only one onboard Trick's LP, though. Em's pal Dr. Dre produced a record called "Hold On."
"The [rhymes] I did over Dre's track, I had to come hard," Trick added. "You can't just rap on a Dr. Dre track, you have to come with it. It has a message, but it's a street message. ... Street cats have to deal with a lot. A lot of people in the music business overlook the streets. You gonna encounter adversity. You can't fall off. You gotta hold on."
According to Trick, however, the most special cut on The Villain — the first single to which, "Let's Work," was just released — is a song called "Together Forever." He says it features the last-ever verse recorded by his friend Proof from D12.
"He did the verse in the studio [here in Detroit]," Trick began. "We went to a [strip] bar, then went to the casino. The next night, we met at a club called [the] Good Life [Lounge,] and he was trying to get me to drink this PatrĂ³n. I was like, 'N---a no!' Then we went back to the casino. Then the next night was the night he passed away."
Trick continued, saying that the song, "Together Forever," also features Kid Rock and Esham: "[It's] like the old Run-DMC song [of the same name]. Proof [sounds] old-school [on the song]. Everybody went old-school on it. Kid Rock is rapping too. Proof and E-Sham didn't used to get along, but they made peace. We're all going eight [bars], eight [bars] eight [bars]."
As for the title of his new album, The Villain, Trick said it's pretty self-explanatory.
"I ain't knocking nobody on how they do their music," he said. "But the artists, sometime we tend to sway with the time. It's ok to test the water a little bit, but you gotta give them you. I'm back on that gangster sh---, cuz. I'm not gonna front. I'm talking about that's straight hardcore, raw Detroit gangsta sh--. My album ain't negative, but I got a point of how I do things. People think I'm just wigging out doing this and that, getting in trouble. That ain't the case. I'm breaking down situations; 'if you do this to somebody, this is gonna happen to you.' "

Joe Budden Preps Sophomore Album

If all goes as planned, rapper Joe Budden will release his first album in five years, "Padded Room," in the spring. "Padded Room" will be the follow-up to 2003's "Joe Budden," which launched the hit "Pump It Up." Three editions of his "Mood Muzik" mixtape series have followed, but Budden tells Billboard.com that he's looking forward to another proper album release...
"It's complete," Budden says of "Padded Room," which will be released by Amalgam Digital. "It basically will be in the same vein as 'Mood Muzik,' just a little more structure and the mood will probably be a little lighter.

I'm definitely pleased with the direction that it's going."He adds that the album "sounds like Joe Budden. I can't really say it sounds like the times, because the times right now I'm not too fond of. I'm not too big on how that sound is going. But Joe Budden fans will get what they're accustomed to, and there's music on there for the casual listener as opposed to 'Mood Muzik,' which is not for the casual fan."Budden, of course, had intended to release a second album called "The Growth" in the wake of the self-titled record's success. But it was scuttled by a deteriorating relationship with Def Jam, his label at the time, and a rumored feud with outgoing CEO Jay-Z.

Nowadays Budden says that "the relationship went sour over the years, not something that just happened spontaneously or instantly. It was kind of a developing process."But he does acknowledge that Def Jam's changing of the guard in 2004, after his debut's release, was not good for his career. "The people that signed me to Def Jam and had so much faith in me and believed in me, those weren't the people who were in charge anymore," Budden explains. "If the people who are running Def Jam now were in charge in 2002, 2003, who could say if I ever would have been signed to a deal."Once "Padded Room" is out, meanwhile, Budden hopes that there won't be as long a wait for his third album. "I'm in the studio every single day, vibing and coming up with ideas," he notes. "There's always music around to put out, so you'll hear more from me sooner than later, I hope."Source: Billboard

Gnarls CD Nearly Done; Danger Mouse Branches Out

Gnarls Barkley's sophomore album is nearing completion, although a name and a release date have yet to be revealed. One song confirmed to have made the cut is a psychedelic soul tune first played for Billboard last summer, and marked by the Cee-Lo lyric "Who's gonna save my soul now?""I'm hoping that I don't fall out of grace with whatever I've done to deserve this to pass through me," Cee-Lo told Billboard last summer. "So I become concerned with it in that right. It's not something I want to get in every publication and explain...
"Music is a natural mystic," he continued. "This is not something that we contrived. It's truly something that we just can't explain, you know what I mean? So why try to explain it at all? It just is."In the meantime, Danger Mouse has his hands full with numerous projects. Beyond producing the new Black Keys album, "Attack & Release," he contributed songwriting and production to Martina Topley-Bird's "The Blue God," due this summer via Independiente.Arriving in May is the Shortwave Set's tentatively titled "Replica Sun Machine," which features production by Danger Mouse and a 24-piece orchestra conducted by Beach Boys collaborator Van Dyke Parks, as well as an appearance by the Velvet Underground's John Cale.

Nas Being Dropped By Def Jam?

Nas is reportedly set to be dumped by his record label Def Jam because of the ongoing rift over the title of his upcoming album.
The rapper has caused a storm of controversy over recent months after he announced his impending album will titled ‘Nigga’, before changing it to ‘Nigger.’
According to MediaTakeOut.com, Nas’ decision not to budge on the title has caused massive friction between the two parties...
The site quotes a source who says: “There is no way that we can put out an album with that title. Many retailers have already told us - flat out - that they won't carry (an album with that title).
Nas' last album sold pretty well, but not well enough for the headache he's causing the label."
They continued: "If Nas doesn't change his mind, he'll be dropped. And he doesn't have to much time to come to that realization."

Federal agents said they found the rapper carrying illegal drugs, including cocaine and pot...The New Orleans native's bus was pulled over at a checkpoint. DEA officials said a Border Patrol dog sniffed out the drugs. A search turned up nearly four ounces of pot, a little more than an ounce of cocaine, Ecstacy and drug paraphernalia. They also found a .40-caliber pistol registered to Lil' Wayne. He has a permit to carry concealed weapons in Florida, but authorities are trying to find out if he violated any weapons laws in Arizona. Pimp C's Death Remains A Mystery

Seven weeks after the death of Texas rap pioneer Pimp C, his exact cause of death continues to elude the public.
Despite initial reports that autopsy results would be available 6-8 weeks following his death, the Los Angeles County Coroner's office is still awaiting toxicology results for rapper Pimp C (born Chad Butler)...
A representative for the L.A. County Coroner's office told SOHH it could take three to six months to determine a cause of death in the case; meaning it may be as late as June before family and fans may learn what happened to Pimp C.
As previously reported, Pimp C was found dead in his room at the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles on December 4th.

One half of the legendary Port Arthur, Texas duo UGK, along with Bun B, 33-year-old rapper Pimp C was discovered with no apparent injuries and no drug paraphernalia present, leading authorities to believe he died of natural causes. Because of the absence of any signs of trauma, last month the coroners office ruled out the possibility of foul play in the case.

Joe Budden Says It's Best If Jay Z Doesn't Respond

Contrary to earlier reports, New Jersey rapper Joe Budden is still attached to Def Jam Records. In a recent interview with Shade45, Budden says that although he is about "99.6%" off the label-- his "Mood Muzik 3 mixtape" has rekindled Def Jams interest in the Jersey city rapper..."We're about 99.6%..I would say that's off. That Mood Muzik dropped and they were like 'whoa' time out...we may be making a big mistake." Said Joe jokingly. Though he isn't completely off the label, Joe says he wouldn't stay if given the opportunity. "I wouldn't stay over there..It's quiet apparent that they have no idea what to do with Hip Hop." He retorted. When asked about the Jay Z diss "Talk To Em," Joe says he doesn't care if Jay responds and that it'd be best if he didn't. "I go in the booth and I get shit off my chest for me. Alot of times it'll be misconstrued by the fans cause they don't have all the information--they don't have the inside scoop. I didn't really do it for him to necessarily respond and it's probably the best thing that he doesn't." Joe said of the track. "Nigga's looking like Larry Holmes, flabby and sick...And this is to take nothing away from dude or his body of work--but I heard the shit that he said to Jim Jones--weak like seven days." He continued. Budden's is currently working a new album set to hit stores this spring, entitled "The Padded Room." He will also be releasing an album version of Mood Muzic 3 on February 28th via Amalgam Digital. Source: hiphop-elements.com

Flo Rida News/Article

When Flo Rida first took the bus from Florida to Los Angeles in hopes of launching a music career, he was so broke that he was forced to live on the streets.
Even worse, he once left his bag on a bench while milling around the Beverly Center mall, only to discover that the LAPD had confiscated it, fearing it contained a bomb...
Nowadays, the rapper's outlook is considerably brighter. His debut single, "Low" featuring T-Pain, is enjoying its fourth week atop the Billboard Hot 100. It has sold more than 1.78 million downloads through January 6, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In the post-Christmas week, it set a record when it moved 470,000 digital downloads.
As a bridge to his Poe Boy/Atlantic debut, "Mail on Sunday" (March 18), "Low" is prominently featured as the lead track from the Disney film "Step Up 2 the Streets," which opens February 14 in U.S. theaters. Atlantic will release the soundtrack February 5.
The label has been building the Flo Rida story since late last summer, when he began playing club dates in Florida and the Southeast in conjunction with the release of "Low" to clubs in the area.
"This may seem like an overnight sensation to most of the country," Atlantic vice president of marketing James Lopez said. "The song spread so much faster than we could travel."
The "Low" video debuted in early November on BET and MTV, inspiring nearly 100 YouTube videos of dancing fans. According to Atlantic director of digital marketing Brian Dackowski, the label quickly initiated partnerships with social networking sites like Imeem, where fans can upload their own photos and remixes of the "Low" clip.
Flo Rida also has his own YouTube channel, through which "Low" has garnered nearly 5 million plays, and he interacts personally with fans on his MySpace site.
"This phenomenon was organic," Dackowski said. "We haven't had an artist take off like this before with a song picking up and kids across the country going for it on their own. It was like riding a wave."
Flo Rida was born Tramar Billard on December 16, 1979, in Carol City, Fla.'s 187th Street projects. The youngest (and only boy) of seven siblings, he was a natural athlete who played every sport imaginable, but music was what really moved him.
He honed his skills making tapes in his grandmother's and aunt's garages, and by ninth grade had joined four-member rap group the Groundhoggz.
"We grinded locally doing shows and mixtapes," Flo Rida said. "We kept rapping together even after I graduated high school in 2001 and left for (the University of Nevada-Las Vegas). But after a while, we started shopping our demos separately because no one signed us as a group."
Now, the rapper is putting the final touches on "Mail on Sunday," which features appearances by Ross, Sean Kingston, Lil Wayne, Trey Songz and Brisco.
"They say if you grind hard enough, you'll shine," Flo Rida said. "I didn't know 'Low' would get this big. It's the greatest feeling in the world."

How Do I Breathe Lyrics and Video by Mario

How do I breathe
How do I breathe mmm mmm..
Feels so different being here
I'm so used to being next to you
Life for me is not the same
Theres no-one to talk to
Don't know why I let it go too far
Starting over it's so hard
Seems like everywhere I try to go
I keep thinking of you
I just had a wakeup call
Wishing that I never let you fall
Baby your not to blame at all
When i'm the one that pushed you away
Baby if you knew I care
You never would’ve went nowhere
Girl I should have been right there

How do I breathe
Without you here by my side
How will I see
When Your love brought me to the light
Where do I go
When your hearts where I lay my head
When your not with me
How do I breathe
How do I breathe

Girl I'm losing my mind
Yes I made a mistake
Thought that you would be mine
Guess the joke was on me
I miss you so bad I cant sleep
I wish I knew where you could be
Another dude is replacing me
Girl this cant be happening
I just had a wakeup call
Wishing that I never let you fall
Baby your not to blame at all
When i'm the one that pushed you away
Baby if you knew I care
You never would have went nowhere
Girl I should have been right there

And I wonder
How do I breathe
Without you here by my side
How will I see
When Your love brought me to the light
Where do I go
When your hearts where I lay my head
When your not with me
How do I breathe
How do I breathe

I cant get over you no
Baby I dont wanna let go
Girl you need to come home
Back to me
Cause girl you made it hard to breathe
When your not with me

Tell me
How do I breathe
Without you here by my side
How will I see
When Your love brought me to the light
Where do I go
When your hearts where I laid my head
When your not with me
How do I breathe
How do I breathe

Tell me
How do I breathe
Without you here by my side
How will I see
When Your love brought me to the light
Where do I go
When your hearts where I laid my head
When your not with me
How do I breathe
How do I breathe

Nate Dogg Paralyzed After Stroke

Former Death Row recording artist and noted collaborator Nate Dogg is paralyzed on the left side of his body after suffering a mild stroke over the holidays, according to his manager. As MTV News previously reported, Dogg (real name: Nathaniel Hale) is currently in an occupational rehab facility.
The prognosis for a full recovery, however, is good, Nate's rep, Rod McGrew, told MTV News on Thursday night; the singer did not suffer any brain damage nor has his voice been affected, he said...
"Time will tell everything, obviously. The doctor can only guess what the outcome will be," McGrew said. "But based on situations with similar people his age, and based on his health, the prognosis is good right now."
McGrew explained the singer has "neural-muscular issues that have to be jump-started." Those issues extend to his sense of touch and the ability to walk correctly, McGrew said.
Initially, there were conflicting reports surrounding the status of Nate Dogg's health. There was word he'd had a heart attack, before it was correctly noted he suffered from a stroke instead. Also, conflicting reports arose regarding his release from the hospital and whether or not the singer was recovering at his home.
The media interest continued earlier this week when TMZ released an audio clip that McGrew confirmed was Nate Dogg's girlfriend phoning 911 after the singer collapsed.
The reaction to clip — bloggers joked about the caller's monotonous tone during such a crisis — drew McGrew's ire. He said he was dismayed over the interest in such a thing and intends to pursue legal action, although he did not specify what his plans are.
"I'm not sure what people are trying to glean from that tape," he said. "The diagnosis is what it is, and the prognosis is what it is: He had a stroke. The media wants to create something, but I'm not sure what the point is. If you had an emergency and someone was in your presence, they would call 911.
"I'm not in a situation to see who is doing what, but rather tending to [Nate] and making sure he gets back on track," he added.
McGrew requested his client be given as much privacy as possible so his recovery can continue. He has made progress so far, McGrew said, and noted that the singer welcomes all the support he's received since word of his stroke surfaced.
"On behalf of Nate, he would like to thank all of the well wishers, both friends and fans," McGrew said. "He appreciates it deeply, and he plans on fully recuperating and getting back in the studio."

Ludacris, Chingy 'Move Forward And Reunite' On 'Gimme Dat' Video Set

Water under the bridge, no tears over spilt milk, it's all 'hood.
However you want to phrase it, Chingy and Ludacris have let bygones be bygones and are excited to be working with each other again. The once-estranged friends shot the video for their latest collaboration, "Gimme Dat," recently in L.A. It's the second video from Chingy's Disturbing Tha Peace second coming, Hate It or Love It...

"We figured we'd move forward and reunite," Chingy said, sitting next to Ludacris during a long pause in filming. "We need more unity."
Chingy said his album title refers to how people will feel about his bond with DTP being re-formed. He thinks feelings will range from one extreme to the next. "It feels like I never went nowhere," Ching said. " 'Cris is like a brother to me, and I'm glad to be back and handling business with everyone."

It's business as usual for DTP's leader, Ludacris. He has movies, another solo album and, of course, record-label-CEO business to attend to this year.
"We are officially bigger than the old Wu-Tang used to be," he joked, referring to the Clan's reported 195-person-plus roster (both on and off the mic) back in the day. "Disturbing Tha Peace: We don't die, we multiply. It's a lot of members we got. A lot of artists are dropping in 2008. We got singers, rappers — it's a little bit of everything."

Luda's Theater of the Mind is dropping in the coming months (he declined to reveal who he's been working with but said he's at the midway point), while Bobby Valentino — who is also featured on "Gimme Dat" — has almost completed his Underground Love.
"My album is pretty much down right now," Bobby said. "It's called Underground Love because I feel like I have an underground cult that love Bobby Valentino, that enjoy what I do. It's for all those fans. I hope I gain new fans, but this album is different than all other R&B albums."
Outside of his camp, Luda has been all over the country doing guest spots with various artists. The one artist 'Cris has had the most success with is Usher. A new record by the two, "Dat Girl Right There," leaked a few weeks ago, though it is still up in the air whether the song will make Usher's new LP.

"It got leaked early, way before it got mixed or anything," Luda said of the collaboration. "I'm not sure exactly what the status is of that particular song, but I do know Usher is working hard, and his album will be dropping in 2008. That's the homie. Regardless if that song is gonna make it or not, because it got leaked way too early, we're always down to make history again."
On the movie front, 'Cris has three under his belt: "Game" with Gerard Butler (he doesn't expect that until 2009 though), "Ball Don't Lie" and "RocknRolla."
"Guy Richie [directed] 'RocknRolla,' " Luda said of the flick, which also stars Thandie Newton. "It's incredible. Another gangsta flick done in the U.K. 'Ball Don't Lie,' [it's about a kid] who's a part of an orphanage, but the one talent he had was basketball growing up his whole life, and that molded him into a man. I kind of help him."

This self proclaimed “new breed of the raw” gained his first exposure after submitting a demo tape to Bad Boy Records in the late 90's. Impressed with the demo, one of the label's executives featured TORAE on a compilation album released through an independent company. Soon after TORAE was invited to join The Ruff Ryders and Cash Money Millionaires on their nationwide tour. The buzz circulated throughout the music industry’s elite, and while on the set of Cam’ron’s music video for “My Hood” TORAE had the opportunity to show Cam and his friends just how vivid he could spit. He became a part of the Diplomat family, and although not signed to their label, remained close to Cam'ron, and the Dipset. Read more for full story...

TORAE went on to record and release a 12" single "Gimme The Mic" b/w "Spice Thang" on his own Internal Affairs Entertainment imprint and in May 2006 TORAE released the single "Promises" b/w "T.I.M.E." on AV8 Records as a member of the underground hip-hop super group The Co. {Coalescence}. The single remains in heavy rotation on underground radio shows, Music Choice and satellite radio stations. Likewise, the track was featured on “The Justo Tribute” mixtape hosted by Pete Rock, and only three months after its release, nominated for two Underground Music Awards (Best Rap Group & Song of the Year).
After previously working with platinum & gold selling producers; such as DJ Clark Kent, Jimi Kendricks, Illmind and DJ Babu, on 1-29-08 TORAE will release his debut LP, Daily Conversation, which features production from DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, Black Milk, Khrysis, Marco Polo and guest appearances from Tash (Tha Alkaholiks), Stimuli, Teflon and fellow rising stars Chaundon and Skyzoo. TORAE’s DJ Premier produced lead-single, “Get It Done,” f/Skyzoo is already ringing in the new year on xxlmag.com’s banger section.

In addition to his solo and group endeavors you’ll be hearing TORAE’s voice on Rawkus Records’ Soundbombing 4, the eMC Project (Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Punchline & Strick), and DJ Babu’s new Duck Season this year; just to name a few.

The Way I Do by Marcos Hernandez Music and Video

Your kiss, your smile, your mind
You're sunlight in my eyes
I miss your breath on my neck
When we whisper in the night

Didn't wanna want to hold you
Didn't wanna need you so bad
Didn't wanna wake up
And find that I was falling so fast
Didn't wanna need you
Didn't wanna need anyone
Now look what you've done

Now I can't go on without you
I'm naked, I cant fake it.
I'm not that strong without you
Never thought I could love you the way I do.

Your touch, your skin, can't believe the way you let me in
Don't rush tonight, I need you like the ocean needs the tide.

Didn't wanna want to hold you
Didn't wanna need you so bad
Didn't wanna wake up
And find that I was falling so fast
Didn't wanna need you
Didn't wanna need anyone
Now look what you've done

Now I can't go on without you
I'm naked, I cant fake it.
I'm not that strong without you
Never thought I could love you the way I do.

I always thought
I would stand on my own
Climb a mountain top all alone
Relying, depending on no one
Now look at what you've done

Now I can't go on without you
I'm naked, I cant fake it.
I'm not that strong without you
Never thought I could love you the way I do.

Never thought I could love you
Never thought I could need you
Never thought I could want you
The way I do

Never thought I could love you
Never thought I could need you
Never thought I could want you
The way I do

I love you
I need you
I want you
..the way I do

Fat Joe Reveals New Album Details

Fat Joe recently sat down with Billboard.com and revealed some details about his upcoming LP, The Elephant in the Room, his eighth solo LP since his debut in 1993. According to Joe, he’s referring to himself and his legacy as a gangster rapper...“Elephant in the Room is a gangster rap album—rap being the room and the elephant being me. Fat Joe’s been doing it for 15 years and he still doesn’t get his just due,” he explains.

The project will include production from heavyweights and longtime Joe collaborators such as Scott Storch, DJ Premier, Swizz Beatz and Cool & Dre. Joe has also tapped Plies, Pooh Bear and DJ Khaled for guest appearances. Notable tracks include the anti-snitching tune “Kill All Rats” and the recently leaked “300 Brolic.” Preemo contributed some of his trademark scratches to “Thank God For That White,” and “Preacher on a Sunday Morning” is described simply as “bass-heavy.” One track sure to raise eyebrows is the song “Fugitive,” on which Joe raps “Nigga, bitch, hoe/some chicks is bitches, some chicks is hoes…Now who gonna tell me I can’t say nigga?”

Crucial Conflict Drops First Album In 9 Years

Chicago Hip-Hop collective Crucial Conflict will release a new album titled Planet Crucon (pronounced “crew-con”), their first in nine years.
The group, which consists of original members Coldhard, Wildstyle, Kilo and Never, exploded on to the national scene with the release of their hit single “Hay,” which topped the Billboard charts in 1996...
Crucial Conflict followed with singles like "Ride the Rodeo" (Final Tic, 1996) and "Scummy" (Good Side Bad Side, 1998), before disappearing from the national scene, due to a contractual dispute with their former label, Pallas Records.
“Hay” introduced the groups brand of rhyming to the world, which they have dubbed “Rodeo style.”
"We keep it gutter, but we try to make it universal," group member Wildstyle explained. “'Rodeo' also adds a dimension of emotion and ferocity that fans of Crucial Conflict expect.”
According to Coldhard, Crucial Conflict's long awaited third album reflects the group’s mental state.
“We're gonna make Chicago proud because this album represents unity,” Coldhard said. “It's a new and improved Crucial Conflict… We weren't on our time; we were on God's time. Now it's time to give the people what they were missing."
Planet Crucon hits stores via Buckwild Records Entertainment/Scratch Entertainment/Select-O-Hits on January 29.Source: Allhiphop.com

Hip Hop artist Ali Vegas is set to release the album, "Generation Gap 2: The Prequel" in May 2008. In anticipation of the album release, Ali Vegas keeps us updated with the "America's Prince" mixtape. As one of the most recognizable names in hip-hop, Ali began his career in the late 90's and at only 25 years old this artist is sure to break ground with his lyrical dexterity. The self proclaimed "Prince of New York" hails from Jamaica, Queens and has often been compared to hip hop greats such as Nas and Jay-Z. In 2006, Ali Vegas signed to Lamar Odom's label, Rich Soil Entertainment where he has worked with producers ranging from J Nice to Midi Mafia.

As a seasoned vet, Vegas began rapping at age 6 and since has had a string of hits including Gangsta Boogie, The Apology, and the Specialists which was featured on the 'In too Deep' soundtrack. Ali's new album will include collaborations with Akon, Styles P, Sammie and more. This album will present a more mature Vegas and bring hip-hop back to its lyrical days. "I am really proud of this project, through the course of this album I have grown personally and professionally my music reflects my life" says Ali. Prodigy Shoots Music Video Behind Bars

After being granted a thirty day grace period before having to report to jail on weapons charges, Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy has decided to shoot his new music video inside a prison cell.
Reports from New York's Daily News confirm that Prodigy, whose real name is Albert Johnson, received permission from officials at the Queens House of Detention to film a video there...
According to corrections officials, Prodigy paid for use of the cell. Prodigy was granted permission to film just days before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Edward McLaughlin agreed to give him another thirty days before reporting to serve a three-and-a-half year prison sentence, while doctors put together his complete medical record. Prodigy suffers from sickle cell disease.,
P however, is denying that the judge allowed him extra time because of his disease. The Queens emcee recently released another video on his website hnic2.com claiming he asked for the extension in order to have more time to put his career in order.
In the eleven minute clip, P explains that he asked his lawyer Irving Cohen to request an extension for business reasons, not health ones.
Prodigy is expected to begin serving his sentence in early February. His second solo album, H.N.I.C. Part 2, is due out this March.

Random News(Bun B, Eminem,Lil Wayne & More)

He puts on his "gloves and scrubs," and it's Dr. Carter on deck to save the day. "Your style is a disgrace/ Your rhymes are fifth place/ And I'm just grace," Lil Wayne recently rapped on the set of his album-cover shoot for Tha Carter III. "One, uno, ace, and I'm trying to make your heart beat like bass/ But you're sweet like cake, and I've come to fix whatever you shall break. ..."Wayne was dropping bars from his highly anticipated LP. The performance was unsolicited but very much appreciated by all within earshot, including photographer Jonathan Manion...

Weezy's LP should be dropping sometime soon, but he's still working and trying to get Eminem on his potential masterpiece."I'm trying to get Eminem on this song for my album," he said. "I did a little something for Dr. Dre's new album [Detox]. When you're busy like us, you just send the song. I just wrote some stuff for [Dre], and hopefully he'll like it."In addition to Tha Carter III, Weezy said he will also be releasing rock and R&B albums in the future. He didn't say when. ...Chaka for president! And we're not talking about the lovely, legendary Ms. Khan either. We're referring to none other than Disturbing Tha Peace co-head Chaka Zulu. We caught up with his business partner and friend Ludacris last week in L.A. 'Cris was wearing a "Chaka for President" T-shirt. Let's see, since Chaka hasn't been at any of the primaries, 'Cris probably isn't making a push for Zulu to battle it out with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. There's a big vacancy at Luda's recording home, Def Jam, since Jay-Z resigned recently."Nah, we're just generally speaking," 'Cris insisted about the faux campaign effort, with a devious grin on the set of Chingy's "Gimme That" video. "Generally speaking."DTP signees Ching-a-Ling and Bobby V were more forthcoming about wanting Chaka in the hip-hop Oval Office."I think Jay-Z is a good artist, and he was great president," Chingy said. "He brought Rihanna and Ne-Yo and a couple of artists over there, and they do pretty good. I don't know his reasons for resigning. ... But Chaka for president? I agree with that." "If you're listening," Bobby V, making a joking plea to the powers that be at Def Jam, "give Luda or Chaka Zulu that executive position, please. For Bobby V. If they move up, I'll move up too.""We'll see what happens," 'Cris said."I think it's flattering," Chaka said, responding to the support he's been getting from peeps in the industry. Several people in and out of his camp have given him their vote of confidence for the position. But Chaka said he hasn't been contacted by L.A. Reid or any high-ranking Universal Music Group execs about the job. "When you think about the people who have sat in that chair for that brand — Russell Simmons, Lyor Cohen, Kevin Liles, then Jay-Z — who were all presidents (also Wes Johnson), that's a flattering list of people to be considered in the line of," Zulu said. "Would I do it? Yeah. I thought about taking a seat. I was up for an Interscope position two years ago. That in itself is what opened me up to the thought process of sitting at the head of one of these labels. I got so much support from everybody when I was going up for that position — from L.A. Reid to Jay-Z, artists that were on and off the label, 50 Cent. All of these people were like, 'You should take that job, and we'll work through you.' In the process of thinking about [the Interscope job], I'm open to [being a label president] because I know I would have the support of the artists." Meanwhile, Ludacris is in the midst of heating up the scene for the release of his upcoming album, Theater of the Mind. He's on Mary J. Blige's new album, Growing Pains (the track "Grown Woman"), as well of remixes of "I'm So Hood" and Shawty Lo's "They Know." "I'm a fan of a lot of music out there, and if I get an opportunity to put a verse on there, I'mma show them what it sounds like for Luda to be on the damn song. Try to take it to another level, and I'm a fan of everybody's [song] I get on." ...When you're making $50,000 a show just for hyping up the crowd for somebody else's concert, it's a little difficult to get overly anxious about putting out your own album. Tony Yayo hasn't been rushing the follow-up to his 2005 effort, Thoughts of a Predicate Felon, even though he's the only member of the G-Unit crew without at least two LPs."I got so much material right now," Yayo said last week, fresh from court. "I'm to a point where I got a little spoiled. Honestly, I been working, and I got a lot of music. I get paid so well, I wasn't worried about an album. The average rapper has financial problems. 50 keeps all of us right. If I'm getting $50,000 a show with 50 and I just did two months' worth of shows, come on, man. 50 is the biggest rapper. He's getting half a million just to walk in somewhere, and we're doing nothing but stadiums. We're going places rappers don't go, where they don't know rappers. "There's an album coming," he added. "I have plenty of material. The title — I ain't think of nothing yet, really, but I got lot of music. I got over 30 songs. I'm good money. I'm still working."Yayo says the G-Unit album (tentatively titled Lock and Load) is still coming, and it has contributions from Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, Havoc and Eminem. But there is no set time table for that release or for the next 50 solo album, Before I Self Destruct. "It's just really a work process," he said of Lock and Load's being pushed back from the holiday season. "Everything has to be launched the right way and worked the right way. Labels like Interscope, they don't do everything people think they do for G-Unit. ... When G-Unit was at their prime and I got out of jail and 50 sold all them records — all that was done through G-Unit Records."I'm just learning a lot, and I'm learning timing is everything," he said. "Everything has to be promoted the right way. Before, it would take a couple of weeks for a single to pick up. Now it takes months. It's a whole different ballgame. 50 is a smart decision-maker, and we have to figure out the right way to put out the album. We got some fire, and we're bringing something new to hip-hop." ...Bun B is back in the booth following the death of his partner-in-rhyme, Pimp C. The veteran Texas rapper, who is working on his next solo album, paid us a visit last week to open up about how he's been coping with the passing of his UGK brother in early December. In some ways, he said, it reminded him of when Pimp was away in prison, but then the reality sinks in that the group is no longer going be a two-man show."The whole 'Free Pimp C' movement, you look back on it and you know it was a test, to see if you could handle that," Bun said, referring to the campaign that surrounded the rapper's incarceration for aggravated assault. "Knowing you can handle that, you know you can move forward. ... [With] the 'Free Pimp C' movement [I knew that] at some point he was gonna come back into the situation; we'd be a group again. So that was always in the back of my mind. In this instance, it's not really gonna be like that. At no other point in time, throughout this music career, from here on, are he and I going to physically share a stage together, gonna physically be in the studio recording together. And that in itself is a little off-putting."Bun told us Pimp C's absence still hasn't hit as hard as it eventually will. He admitted that at one point he and Pimp's mother avoided seeing each other, although not on purpose, because they both seemed to fear that speaking to each other would open up more wounds as they tried to heal. Since then, however, Bun has been able to talk to her, and he's been able to move on enough to finish his second solo project. He said he wasn't sure if he'd ever be 100 percent comfortable with recording, but he knew that at some point he had to push forward. "I know people will support it, and I know that I'm strong enough to do it," Bun said of putting out another album. "Just the point of understanding from here on out, it's just [me] — I'm probably never gonna be comfortable with it in that sense. It's just a matter of coming to terms with the reality of it and the finality of the two-man situation in a physical sense."In the meantime, Bun is planning on penning verses about Pimp. He said he wants to give the story behind the men of UGK, but he wasn't sure if he'd ever release the music. He's spoken with T.I. about coping with the loss of a right-hand man (T.I.'s close friend Philant Johnson was killed while on tour with the MC in 2006). The Grand Hustle MC told him that, from his experience, recording the music will help, even if it doesn't ever land on an album. Aside from seeking advice from Tip, Bun asked Slim Thug, Lil Wayne, Sean Kingston and "a certain four-man group out of Atlanta that used to be signed to LaFace" to appear on his album. He said "Now That's Gangster," his single with the Jamaican teen crooner, should be out soon. "It's about reclaiming the streets," Bun said of the track. "Gangsterism is looking like a fad, but it's some real sh--. Not as in the red, the blue, or 'I'm a G,' but when you out there not doing the status quo. People need to understand what a gangster is. "I'mma start with that word and take that word back," Bun finished, "until I can eventually take the whole 'hood back."Plans for another UGK album are in the works, but Bun said he'll be cautious and that nothing is set in stone yet.

"Go On Girl" by NE-YO Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I can't get it back,
butI don't want it back, I
Realized that,
She don't know how to act
Never been a dumb dude
No I'm not dense
I Just had a slight lack
Of common sense
I was the good guy
She was the bad girl
I'm thinking one girl
She thinking me, earl James and jimmy
Yep she had plenty
But love for me, she didn't have any
I was inviting, her into my heart
But she was out riding in some other man's car
She was my night time, thought I was her star
Guess I was wrong, but see I'm strong
Wont take long for me to move on
[Hook]
Please don't worry bout me I'm fine
(Please don't worry bout me I'm fine)
Only gonna play the fool one time
(Only gonna play the fool one time)
Trust me when I say
That I'll be OKGo on girl
(Go on girl)
Go on girl
(Go on girl)
Go on girl
[Verse 2]
can't get it back, but
I don't want it back, I
Realized that,
She don't know how to act
Tried to settle down and look what I get
Thought it was my time, but I guess not yet
She at the bar getting drinks from many men
I'm in the house, thinking shes with her girlfriends
Trust not knowing, truly not knowing
I look back now like, man, I was open
I was inviting, her into my heart
But she was out riding in some other man's car
She was my night time, thought I was her star
Guess I was wrong, but see I'm strong
Wont take long for me to move on
[Hook]
[Bridge]
The mistake I made is clear
(we never should've been together)
Thats the reason you're not here
(I know that I can do much better)
Not a single salty tear
Not a feeling in my chest
Baby I'm feeling no stress
I'm too fly to be depressed
Go on Girl
Go on Girl
Go on Girl
Go on Girl
[Hook]
